The Vision!
To provide a FREE Preschool facility for the Village children that offers day care and education in a safe, nurturing, Christian environment.
Huaymakang is a Lahu (Hill Tribe) Village in a remote mountainarea of Northern Thailand. It is a very poor village where the people's main source of existence is farming the steep surrounding mountains for food to eat on a daily basis.
How you can HELP!
Support a child for $10 a month. This will provide hot lunches for a child for one month
Support a child for $5 a month. This will provide milk for a child for one month
Sponsor a Teacher; a month's salary for a teacher is about $100. You can hep by giving $25 a month.
Donate to the Project. You can make a donation to this very important project which will give the village children the opportunities that most of us take for granted in the western world.
100% of your what you give goes directly to the "Hope Preschool Facility".
The Need.
· Without a Preschool Facility, the village children are either taken to the mountain on a daily basis to collect food with their parents or left at home with older children who should be attending the village Primary School.
· The children that are left behind in the village while their parents go to the mountain to collect food have no adult supervision and generally end up at the Primary School to be with their siblings, this puts extra pressure on the already stretched Primary School and teachers.
· Without a Preschool Facility, the village children are disadvantaged by having no education prior to entering the main school system.
· The main school system is a Thai Language system. The children’s native language is Lahu, when they enter the main system they spend the first 4 years learning to speak, read and write Thai. This forces the children to be disadvantaged in the “Thai system” for the rest of their school years and in most cases for the rest of their life.
· The children often have nothing to eat until the parents return from the mountain late in the afternoon.
· The fact that the parents have an extremely low income and cannot pay for their children to attend a Preschool Facility has prevented a service being offered before.The Solution.
